Should Tassie exploit its latest fishery discovery?
Not surprisingly for a bunch of islanders, Tassie's love to fish ... in fact about a quarter of us do it every year. But overfishing has meant stricter catch limits have been put on some our favourites, including the once ubiquitous sand flathead. The island is also a boon for commercial fishers and a potential new fishery has been discovered off our north east ... if it gets the go ahead though, it won't be directly destined for the dinner table. With memories of super trawlers fresh in the minds of many, we explore the potential for a future Tasmanian sardine fishery. Featuring reporter Clancy Balen. Get in touch, email us: [email protected]
