Visit the Mount of Transfiguration
The fall season is here and the mountains keep calling! Throughout the Bible, significant moments have happened on mountains.
Today we go to the Mount of Transfiguration, which is most likely Mount Hermon. This was a very high mountain, where Jesus took Peter, James, and John in Matthew 17:1-13.
Jesus had a special moment with them where "his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light." (Matthew 17:2). At that moment, Moses and Elijah stepped out from eternity into the world and conversed with Jesus.
Moses represented the Law and Elijah represented the Prophets, which together reflect how God spoke to His people to guide and direct them. Together, they all heard the Father say to Jesus, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." (Matthew 17:5b). I can only imagine what a significant moment of encouragement this was for Jesus as he faced the cross in the coming weeks.
Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law. Doing what we could not do. Offering us eternal life.
Jesus is the fulfillment of the Prophets. The Word of God made flesh and dwelling among us. A better Word spoken than all the prophets combined.
If you are in Christ, the Father feels the same love for you that He did for Jesus. Go to this mountain and hear your Daddy in heaven tell you how much He loves you. How proud he is of you.
Jesus is with you.
He loves you.
Today and forever.
