Destroy this Temple | Pastor Jayson Hill

Continuing in John chapter 2, the message looks at Christ cleansing the temple and His words, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." Herod's temple looked magnificent from outside, and its leaders had the right people, scriptures and forms of worship, yet their hearts were far from God and they despised the people who came to worship. Drawing on Matthew, Jeremiah 7 and Matthew 22, the preacher warns that having the right Bible, church and doctrine does not make anyone right with God if the heart is not right. From 1 Peter 2, believers are shown to be the true temple, living stones built on Christ the chief cornerstone. Christians are called to examine their own hearts, love the Lord and one another, and keep God's dwelling place clean.
