Say Hello to My Little Film: Episode 118 - Gallipoli

On this week’s episode of SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FILM, Ray and Rob look to keep their streak alive with Ray recommending Peter Weir’s 1981 war drama GALLIPOLI. The film centers on two young sprinters from two completely different walks of life, portrayed by Mark Lee (THE BEST OF FRIENDS, THE CITY’S EDGE) and Mel Gibson (MAD MAX, LETHAL WEAPON), who find themselves joining the Australian Army during World War I. This budding friendship withstands a building worldwide tension which draws the Aussies to the Turkish peninsula of Gallipoli where they face a futile task at the Battle of the Nak. Peter Weir uses his Australian New Wave panache to bring a whimsical feel to this period drama chronicling this unlikely friendship. Will the whimsy of Peter Weir detract from the drama of a traditional war story? Or will the magnetic chemistry of the two leads make it an unforgettable journey? Tune in this week to find out!
