To Beta or Not to Beta
Male Lance-tailed Manakins pair up to perform choreographed courtship displays for females. While it might not seem like a good deal for the beta male, the betas gain experience in courtship that could come in handy when they attain alpha status. More info and transcript at BirdNote.org .
