Jesus leaves Bethany hungry.

He finds a fig tree full of leaves

and nothing on it.

He speaks to it. It withers.

Minutes later he's in the temple,

overturning tables.

And by the end of the day —

after a grain of wheat,

after a troubled soul,

after a prayer —

a voice comes from heaven.

The crowd thinks it's thunder.
