JUDY TORRES (on Being The Queen of Freestyle, Overcoming Childhood Abuse, Madonna & Reclaiming Your Power)

Judy Torres steps Behind The Rope. The Queen of Freestyle is here to mention it all. Long before podcasts and social media gave artists a platform to discuss mental health, Bronx native Judy Torres—affectionately known to millions as the "Queen of Freestyle"—was the voice of a dance music revolution. Her anthems like "No Reason to Cry" and "Come Into My Arms" defined an era of late-80s and 90s club culture and pop radio. Now, celebrating nearly 40 years as a recording artist and over 25 years as a iconic voice on New York’s 103.5 WKTU, Judy is stepping forward with her most candid project yet: her memoir, No Reason to Cry. In No Reason to Cry, Judy peels back the curtain on the price of early fame. Beyond the sold-out shows and radio hits, she exposes the hidden battles she fought behind the scenes: domestic trauma, toxic industry dynamics, health scares, bullying, and severe depression. As we said, Judy mentions it all!
