The Tōhoku region , Northeast region, Ōu region , or Northeast Japan consists of the northeastern portion of Honshu, the largest island of Japan. This traditional region consists of six prefectures : Akita, Aomori, Fukushima, Iwate, Miyagi, and Yamagata.
