About
Released in 1986, this iconic anthem has become synonymous with the dawn of a new era in rock music. Written by lead vocalist Joey Tempest, the song's haunting keyboard riff was born in the early 1980s, with lyrics inspired by the cosmic storytelling of David Bowie's "Space Oddity". A concert staple that evolved into a global phenomenon, "The Final Countdown" has been a staple of rock radio for decades.
