Meet the multifaceted artist behind some of the most iconic music stories of our time, a clarinetist, saxophonist, and blues producer who spent his career illuminating the rich history of American music. As a respected music journalist for The New York Times and Rolling Stone, he brought the world's attention to the blues and beyond. His talents extended far beyond the page, with stints as a member of the influential 1960s band the Insect Trust.
