About

Born: April 5, 1980 in United States Died: September 21, 2011

Formed in Athens, Georgia in 1980, this influential American rock band brought together the talents of four University of Georgia students, blending distinctive vocals, jangly guitar work, and innovative bass lines to create a unique sound. As a pioneering force in alternative rock, they inspired a generation of musicians, including Nirvana and Pixies, before amicably disbanding in 2011 with a legacy of over 90 million albums sold worldwide. With a career spanning over three decades, their impact on the music industry remains profound.
