About
From: Spain
Located in the far north of Canada, this vast territory stretches across nearly two million square kilometers of Arctic landscape. Established in 1999 through the Nunavut Act and the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement Act, this region was carved out from the Northwest Territories to provide the Inuit with a unique opportunity for self-governance. A significant milestone in Canadian history, the creation of Nunavut marked the first major change to the country's map in over five decades.
