About
Born: June 22, 1936 in Brownsville Died: September 28, 2024
A true country music icon, this American musician, songwriter, and actor left an indelible mark on the outlaw country movement of the 1970s with his raw, introspective style that defied the polished Nashville sound. With a repertoire of timeless classics including Me and Bobby McGee, For the Good Times, Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down, and Help Me Make It Through the Night, his music continues to resonate with audiences to this day. His influence extends far beyond his own hits, with many other artists drawing inspiration from his unique sound.
