About
This pivotal moment in music history unfolded in the late 1970s, marked by a backlash against disco that culminated in the infamous Disco Demolition Night in Chicago on July 12, 1979. As disco's popularity waned, its electronic roots paved the way for emerging genres like new wave, old-school hip-hop, and Euro disco. This sonic shift ultimately gave rise to the high-energy club music of hi-NRG, a direct continuation of the disco era.
