When Magic Stops Being a Theory
Somewhere between 38 and 50, most of us get hit by something we never saw coming. You feel like a stranger in your own life. You're crying in the grocery store parking lot and you don't know why. Everyone tells you to expect the truck that hits you in midlife.
Nobody warns you about what comes through the hole it makes.
This week I'm introducing a word I made up because we need it.
midstery (MID-stuh-ree), noun. Midlife, mystery. A midstery is when magic stops being just a theory. Something magical happens in your own life, it stops being a thing that happens to other people, and you start running toward it, fascinated. Each one permanently widens what you're able to notice. Enough of them add up to an awakening. And they almost never show up on a retreat in Sedona. They show up while you're loading the dishwasher.
