In this episode, Eric and Michelle welcome Dr. Gary Shapiro, Conservationist, Author of Out of the Cage: My Half Century Journey from Curiosity to Concern for the "persons of the forest". For nearly 50 years, Gary Shapiro has been traveling to the island of Sumatra to work with the world's largest population of orangutans. He was first called there in 1978 to assist in teaching these majestic primates sign language.
