At the forefront of educational innovation, this pioneering institution has been shaping the minds of future leaders since its inception in 1881 as a normal school. Founded as a standalone entity before the University of California's establishment, it was later incorporated into the UC system in 1919, solidifying its place as the oldest unit at UCLA.
