Talarico's BIG Problem, Alex Cooper's FAIL, with Evan Barker, PLUS Meghan Markle's PR Disaster
Emily Jashinsky breaks down new revelations in the “Cornell 7” case, including a potentially significant statement omitted from CBS News and The New York Times' coverage of a text message exchange between Jane Doe and one of the accused men. Emily is then joined by Evan Barker, author of the New York Times bestseller “Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative,” to discuss her journey from progressive Democratic fundraiser to independent Trump voter. Evan reveals how wealthy donors influence the Democratic Party's priorities, why identity politics helped drive her away from the left, and why she still supports many traditionally liberal economic policies. The ladies examine the backlash against South Carolina Democratic Senate candidate Annie Andrews over her transgender sports ad and react to Marc Lamont Hill's contentious exchange with Piers Morgan. Emily and Evan also discuss James Talarico's unusual absence from the campaign trail, his appearance at a Kacey Musgraves concert, and questions about his strategy in the Texas Senate race. The conversation turns to the furious reaction to Shane Gillis's latest “Saturday Night Live” monologue and the cultural double standards Emily and Evan believe the controversy exposes. They also take on Alex Cooper's “Call Her Daddy” episode about the “Cornell 7” case, challenging its treatment of the evidence, criticism of fraternities, and implications for due process. Evan shares her own experiences with the #MeToo movement while working in Democratic politics. Emily rounds out the show with the controversy surrounding Meghan Markle's $148 Advent calendar, reports of her supporters attacking British priests online, her latest promotional collaboration with Malala Yousafzai, and rumors of a possible reconciliation with the Prince and Princess of Wales.
