The Expedited Motion To Establish The Epstein Survivor Compensation Fund (10/10/26)

The co-executors of Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, Darren Indyke and Richard Kahn, asked the Virgin Islands probate court to expedite approval of a voluntary compensation program for Epstein’s sexual-abuse survivors, arguing that continued delay would unnecessarily prolong the claims process and leave victims waiting for resolution. The proposed Epstein Victims’ Compensation Program was designed to create an independent, confidential alternative to prolonged litigation, using experienced claims administrators who had worked on large-scale compensation systems including the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, clergy-abuse claims and the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Participation would be voluntary, survivors could present their claims directly to the program administrator, and they would retain their legal rights unless they accepted an award and signed a release. The estate argued that establishing the program quickly was in the interests of survivors, creditors and the estate itself because it would provide a more efficient mechanism for evaluating and resolving the growing number of sexual-abuse claims. The effort became tangled in a broader dispute with the U.S. Virgin Islands government, which had placed criminal-activity liens on estate assets and initially objected to aspects of the proposed compensation structure. Indyke and Kahn pressed the court for an expedited ruling and an immediate hearing, arguing that the government should not be permitted to delay the February 2020 consideration of the program after waiting months to formally oppose it. The parties eventually reached an agreement in principle allowing funds to be released for the program, and on June 2, 2020, the probate court granted the estate’s expedited motion authorizing its creation. The Epstein Victims’ Compensation Program formally opened later that month, ultimately providing survivors with a separate claims process outside traditional civil litigation. to contact me: [email protected]
