Emerging from the UK post-punk scene in 1983, this influential rock band began life as Death Cult, a moniker born from the ashes of lead vocalist Ian Astbury's previous project, Southern Death Cult. With a dedicated following in the UK by the mid-80s, they later transitioned to a hard rock sound, achieving mainstream success in the US with hits like Love Removal Machine. Longtime members Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy have been the constants behind the band's evolution, serving as its primary songwriters throughout various lineup changes.
