Many people focus on the problem in front of them instead of the solution available to them. (Every problem carries with it a solution, even if you can’t see it right away.) This trait is due to the negativity bias of the human brain, a trait that served us well tens of thousands of years ago when each day provided deadly threats of starvation, or attack by animals or warring tribes.
